BTW I don’t know if I ever mentioned this, but when my dad passed away a year ago, I printed out all the responses of the lizards on that thread and gave them to my mom. She was really touched and said “These messages are all from some people you know on the Internet?” As I recall, someone posted a little poem, and someone else Wiki’ed my dad’s service record on the USS White Plains.

It was all very emotional.
