Featured Pages that were created more recently will show up in the Featured list before Pages that are auto-promoted by exceeding 10 up-dings, because the creation time is the primary sorting key for that section.

I think people forget that there’s still a “Top-rated Pages” feature that gives you a lot more flexibility in viewing and sorting Pages. You can sort by top-rated, most recent, most views, most comments, and by individual categories.
