Meijer, a GOP congressman who voted to impeach Trump, was defeated by a Trump backed challenger, Gibbs, who the Democrats also elevated with “attack” ads because they think he is beatable in the general. Meijer is a standard Republican on issues, so I have no problem with this tactic; the Democrats need to win as many House seats as they can.

I understand the principle; my concern is that it will just result in even worse crazies getting elected, that is to say, that the Democrats won’t actually beat Gibbs in the general and then we’ll be stuck with another bugfuck-nuts Trump-humping conspiracy theorist in Congress in the next term.
