Republicans conveniently ignore that, under King, it was both a civil rights and labor rights movement. They selectively use King the way they selectively use the bible.

In fact, King was killed while advocating for black sewer workers in Memphis and he was very critical of the war in Vietnam. No one “owns” MLK or his legacy but as a white person, I definitely get tired of seeing MLK invoked to tell black activists especially young ones that they shouldn’t be doing that or that MLK wouldn’t approve.
