re: #319 Kenneth

Indeed you are a moonbat, as you completely missed the point.

I am all in favour of Obama going to the D-Day ceremonies, whatever the year. The problem I have with it is that the French have specifically NOT invited the Queen. This is correctly seen as an insult to the millions of British subjects who fought in the war. Elizabeth was alive during the war and saw the Blitz from her palace window. The British gave a home to Charles de Gaul. Now the French, with American acquiescence or approval, are pissing on the British.

Now do you see the problem?

Hiya, Lizard Nation!

Well - you’ll be sorta pleased to read the latest on this:

French D-Day surrender: Sarkozy makes U-turn and says Queen IS welcome at 65th anniversary

From that link:
‘The French bowed to British anger yesterday over their failure to invite the Queen to next week’s D-Day events.
After an outcry revealed in yesterday’s Daily Mail, they announced that she was ‘welcome’ after all at the 65th anniversary.
It was a dramatic U-turn by the French, who only hours before had been insisting that they had never planned to invite any members of the Royal Family.’

So far so good - but then see this:
‘Gordon Brown faced mounting criticism as MPs and veterans accused him of being out of step with the public mood and failing to sort out the issue with the French months ago.
The Prime Minister’s spokesman insisted that during months of discussions with Paris and Buckingham Palace, he had believed all along that the Royal Family were ‘content’ not to be involved in the plans.’

Yep - nobody’s fault, everybody thought the Queen ‘didn’t want it’ - as if!

So here’s another official announcement:
I loathe the Fwench - but I loathe Gord even more!
