A little like the line “Well, boy, you sure took me for one big ride”, in “Feelin’ Alright”. I assume that Traffic (Dave Mason, specifically) meant for “boy” to be nothing more than an exclamation (rather than an identifier of the gender of the person to whom the song is addressed), but I really don’t know.

But it doesn’t explain The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys.

Or, at least it doesn’t to me. I have never quite grasped what that song was about.
