This one isn’t really about crime, though: This particular push is yet another attempt to outflank Roe vs. Wade. The US Supreme Court has made fairly clear that it will not entertain frontal assaults on Roe at the present time, and so those whose passion for opposing abortion exceeds reason have responded by trying to outflank the decision by “proving” that lower-class women are “murdering their babies”.

“Crime” and social issues have a large role, but Roe vs. Wade remains the main target.
