True that. They have several toppings for fries, including Merk’s cheddar. But seldom can I get to Edzo’s, and then only on the weekend, as it closes at 4pm.

But I have found another place where I get Merk’s and decent fries: L. Woods in Lincolnwood will get you some Merk’s on the side if you ask. One thing to note: The restaurant’s name owes nothing to either The Blues Brothers or Legally Blonde; I actually asked a manager about it one night when I was feeling especially curious.
