re: #341 Spenser (with an S)

While we’re acting all lovey-dovey here and not to open the subject again (unless we want to) but let me explain some of my frustration last week specifically. We were talking around each other. You were saying “I’ve read the bill and it doesn’t call for a Single-Payer”, which is true. We were then pointing out the parts of the bill that would inevitably lead to the privates going away and not able to compete which would leave… a single-payer, which is also true.

So, we have two true statements but a chasm of political and philosophical difference in between, you see? I will remain as civil as possible as we discuss this further, and I will not get personal.

The various proposals being considered aren’t single payer.

While some people (like me) will say they think single payer is the best way to go, none of them are calling for single payer.

Nothing in any of the proposals will lead to single payer, much less ‘inevitably’. The truth is, both sides of the aisle are opposed to single payer in practice, because they’re beholden to the insurance companies.

I have tons of links on this if necessary, but I’m a bit weary of posting them over and over.
