re: #359 Anymouse đš
James Woods is not actually in Mensa. He claims he is. (He also claims his IQ is high enough to be in Triple Nine.)
The claim came in 2013.
How Fake Celebrity Geniuses Fooled the Internet (Daily Edge, June 10, 2013, more at the link)
Four Celebs Who Belong to Mensa (and Two Who Donât) Neotarama, more at the link):
Mensa doesnât create lists of its members for general distribution: The whole worldwide organisation would descend on them in protest of violations of privacy. Individuals can state they are members, but for a long time now Mensa has not released scores to prospects (only a letter stating whether your score was qualifying or not) after the American Psychology Association objected (for reasons that undermine the APA).
If you joined Mensa a long time ago (back in the Eighties or earlier), your letter from Mensa gives the name of the test and the score. Afterwards, only the name of the test and qualified/not qualified.
Since Mr. Woods claims membership, he could produce the letter. If he doesnât have it, he could write Mensa and ask for another copy. Since he never has, well either he or his publicist is lying (that and he doesnât appear on Mensaâs membership rolls, which are available to members).
Thanks AM. Didnât know.
