For those keeping count, this is the second time in as many years that the GOP has completely screwed over the NYC metro area.

First, they dithered and dickered over the Zadroga compensation act for Ground Zero workers affected by ailments caused by 9/11.

Now, they’ve delayed and deferred the Sandy reconstruction bill.

Some in the GOP are claiming that this was because Democrats larded up the bill with pork and they produced a bill that was less than half what NY, NJ, and CT requested - including the requests made by Gov. Christie (a GOPer) and the Republican delegations in both NY and NJ.

Yet, none of the GOP leaders could actually summon up the courage to put this to a floor vote because it would most surely pass in the same kind of fashion that the 2012 tax act just did (basically eviscerating the Hastert rule). It was about preserving the power for the House GOP leaders, not doing what was best for the country.

Don’t think that this will be forgotten anytime soon. Not by a long shot.
