The thing about tornadoes is that having one come through your town, destroy your home and kill a bunch of people won’t stop another one coming through tomorrow.

Earthquakes here, a really big one and you’re good to go for another 109 years (so far).

On the other hand, there’s no warning at all for an earthquake. Most other natural disasters can’t strike so unexpectedly.
