Understandable. Either side, left to their own devices, would produce something that is not efficient. Balance is the key. In life and in politics. But you did not hear that from me.

I don’t know when you came into this thread, but here is a system that’s been in place in my state (Louisiana) for many many many years, and it seems to work. Is it perfect? No. Do the uninsured and indigent get more that just ER care? You betcha. This system is locality-specific, so it can be tailored to meet the needs of a specific location or state, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach we would have with federal insurance.

I keep hoping either Louisiana’s congress-critters will propose something like this as an alternative, or people here will forward to their own congress-people to check out as an alternative idea.
