Nick Confessore had a good, if painful, insight this morning talking about McCain’s rebuttal of the woman who called Obama a foreign Muslim: “I can’t help but think that ultimately the woman won and McCain lost” that showdown. Confessore, of course, was speaking of the direction of the Republican party.

Unfortunately that is true. I thought McCain could have handled that situation better perhaps but he at least defended Obama’s personal character. Romney and Trump would have never done that. McCain was the last GOP nominee that could actually be a decent person. Not so with Mitt and definitely not so with Trump.
