True, it seems like all the smart ones have decided to sit out this year, as there’s simply no way to find a candidate who can both please the base and win over the independents in the general.

Yea it seems like the problem is you have to disagree with everything that BO has ever done or said even when it makes sense, to win the nomination.
But when you run against BO you have to explain to the public why you want to stay in Iraq and take away Medicare. This should be a easy win for the GOP but they shot themselves in the foot in a way I thought only the Dems did.
