I think that’s a ridiculous excuse. Breitbart is infamous for reasons that quite clearly can be traced to his manipulation of right wing race memes. It was one of his constant themes, repeated over and over.

He enabled and promoted racial grievance politics, and when I pointed out that his audience was reacting to that in exactly the way you’d expect, by spewing overtly racist comments, Breitbart’s response was to attack me and claim that I was somehow involved with planting all those comments.

At what point would David Frum consider Breitbart a racist? At the very least, he was a seriously vicious race-baiter.
