I’m wondering, though, if he told them he had just returned from Liberia, or if they even asked if he had been in that part of the world? It might be a good question to ask people who present with those symptoms.

He told them he had arrived from Liberia. He presented with the early flu-like symptoms.
This was discussed at great length in several threads downstairs while the news was breaking.
