Jesus, that article is the model of understatement: “A patrol officer used his vehicle to knock the man down.”

We hear with alarming regularity of folks being killed by cops who “felt threatened”. From what little can be seen in the beginning of the video, the man was holding the gun to his head to thwart police action, and was behaving erratically. I suspect he’d have been shot dead if he hadn’t been hit by the car. At the speed he was hit, he could easily have been killed by the impact, no question. Am I happy with the means? No. But the end was better than the most likely alternatives.
