The Bill of Rights is intended to protect the individual from the government and the majority that elected the government.

I was not refering to the free speech clause but to the religion clauses. The men who wrote those clauses never intended to keep out people of a certain religion. To the contrary.

They also never intended to allow the rights of US citizens to be the tool of a quasi religious/political movement that subjugated the US to that religion.
