Teachers make okay money. They take zero risk.

That’ not true. Teachers take risk when they take a public school teaching gig that their district will continue to be strong in the long term. Teacher’s salaries are indexed year by year until they hit the top of the pay scale at 10 years seniority with a mandatory Master’s Degree picked up along the way. (or something similar)

So they can’t move around from job to job like every other young professional lest they start out back at entry level pay index in the next district over. Teacher’s typically get one shot at a public school job and then they stay there till they can retire. Not a very glamorous career choice.
