Especially when the guy had strings pulled get into the military, not out of it. He was rejected by the army (I think?) because of Health Issues. Which were numerous in his case.

Kennedy was the sickliest presidents we ever had.

Still, sickly though he was, he wanted to fight for his country. He pushed to get combat duty, and even modified his PT Boat with an old 37mm cannon to improve its effectiveness against Japanese landing barges. For all his problems, that willingness to give his all for America was one of Kennedy’s best qualities.
