Yes, it did. As you know (I think), I’m in the process of a painful divorce. I’m 43, and I’m sometimes afraid that I’ll be on my own for the rest of my life. I’ve been praying for some direction on this issue: do I accept that a relationship is not in my future, or do I keep looking forward to having that one empty part of my life filled? Your essay appeared—out of left field, in a way. NO MATTER WHAT, it reminds me NEVER to settle for anything less that what’s right just for the sake of having a relationship.
