Alright so as far as British heavy metal pioneers go, which had more of an impact: Deep Purple or Black Sabbath?

That’s a tough one. I’d say Black Sabbath because they (and Led Zeppelin in a lot of ways) perfected that loud crunchy guitar and the overall doom feeling they brought with the lyrics. Deep Purple definitely had an enormous influence with heavy grooves and heavy incorporation of keyboards.
