Simply defacing a website is harmless in the same way that vandalism is harmless.

Yet this is turning into cyber terrorism. The message being if you paint wikileaks or Assange in anything but a worshipful, glowing light, you will have your assets attacked.

Any cyber attack costs money. Restoring the damage, engineering new security protocols, loss of reputation, etc.
