I’m reading Tony Judt’s “Postwar” at the moment. Really well-written history of postwar Europe.

There’s very interesting and relevant detail about Soviet bloc elections. In Yugoslavia they had two urns: “Tito” and “Opposition”. And a guy behind the table checking which urn you put your ballot in.
