Well, half of all (presumably heterosexual) couples get divorced now. For divorces to triple, that would have to go up to 150%. For that to be even mathematically possible, gay marriages would have to up the marriage total by 50% (instead of 2 or 3% at the outside), and everybody would have to get divorced. Math is hard!

I’ve heard this stat for years, and I’ve also heard that it’s bullshit. (the 50 percent number).
