Because nothing gets folks rallying around the flag than the US going and killing top Iranian military leader. Was the guy feared? Absolutely. With good reason.

But Iranians will also hear the mullahs say that all their warnings have been proven right - Trump can’t be trusted, they were forced to act and defend themselves, and that they’ll resume their nuclear weapons program because that’s the only way to defend themselves from the Trumpists.
