The worst thing about teacher unions is their protecting bad teachers instead of booting them out of the profession.

A few years ago, a colleague wasn’t doing his part in a huge interdisciplinary project. We other teachers talked to him, told him what he was responsible for, but he ignored us. We went to our principal, but our reps smacked our hands for going to admin. I told her that I would NEVER protect a bad teacher. She had no reply to that.

The teacher moved on to another district at the end of the year.

He was a man?

Then you didn’t solve the fundmental problem.
