Hey, Obdi - you make some good points.

Some of what I describe is what I actually observed.

Other parts of it - the Amtrak claim, for instance - I heard about before the storm, and again afterwards. And I’m basing my conclusions on my opinion that Nagin had every reason to distance himself from that incident (the offer was never made!); while Amtrak did not. Much of these sorts of things were a result of mass confusion in communications before, during and after the storm - and in the Frontline show I watched last night - there clearly is Nagin, the police chief, all sorts of officials, stating as TRUE, mere rumors they heard, and stoking the fires more with it. Massive incompetence at all levels of the city, beginning before the storm.

But there is a lot I did see, and had first-hand knowledge of; as well as conversations with people directly involved with the operations of various agencies including the gov’s office; frustrated employees, frustrated with the chaos that existed in that office.
