As satisfying as it would be to slow down the confirmation till after the election, I think that would be a mistake. Speaking strictly tactically here, it would be better for Democrats to allow Trump’s nominee to replace Kennedy to be confirmed quickly. Here’s why:

1) McConnell is completely shameless. There is no rule or precedent in the Senate that will stop him bringing a nominee to a vote. There’s pretty much nothing we can do to stop it now.

2) Once the new Justice is confirmed, Republicans won’t be able to use the nomination to get their voters to go to the polls.

3) Maybe this time, the lazy fuckers who sat out 2010 and 2014 and gave us Majority Leader McConnell, and thus Justice Gorsuch, will get off their asses and VOTE!!!!
