To be honest, I don’t even like FLOTUS saying “our girls”. I understand what she’s trying to do, to say that all of us have responsibility for these girls, but they aren’t ‘our girls’. They couldn’t just come to the US and live—they could apply for asylum, but that’s it. They’re Nigerian girls. They’re their parents’ girls. Unless we’re really going to commit to them for more than just a military operation, we don’t have the right to call them ‘ours’.
