They’ve got to put enough chaff in the air to distract people from the fact that they are seriously slacking on their congressional budget duties.

It’s to keep folks distracted while the GOP caves in and passes the middle-class tax cuts before month’s end. Keep the wingnuts interested in the shiny thing long enough so that they get bored right about the time we start watching the debt limit showdown.
