Benghazi back in business

Pro-Gaddafi forces have long gone and while there is still no central authority the city is functioning and a semblance of normality is returning.

KASEM: We are doing actually well at the moment. People are trying to help each other, trying to, there are volunteers in many places like for example hospitals. Some traffic lights are not working so you see like kids age of 10 to15 or something like this you know trying to do the work for what the police do sometimes.

BARNEY PORTER: Are there any police at all in the city? Any type of security forces?

KASEM: Some yes, some who joined the people here. They are working, they are doing their best to provide security like to their best. Actually in Benghazi most of like banks and shops, nothing happened to them, not destroyed.

BARNEY PORTER: Are the shops open? Is business going on as usual?

KASEM: Yeah, yeah. Most of the shops like let’s say 85 or 90 per cent of the shops are open. Banks are open as well.
