The use of ‘r’ instead of ‘L’ in words like “hello” is occassionally used as a mockery of the waiter at a Chinese restaurant. That’s also how my grandmother talked without her false teeth in.

Anyone else ever hear the story about the word lollipop being the most used challenge and response password during the Pacific campaign because the Japanese couldn’t pronounce it without giving themselves away?
