A thing to remember here is that a projectile does not have to penetrate a vehicle in order cause problems for the crew. Even if the projectile never makes it through the hull, armor, window, etc, the force of the impact can cause fragments of the part struck to spall off into the vehicle interior.

Normally, the stuff I learn about tanks and how to kill them doesn’t have non-military application. But today it does.

Exactly the scenario I was suggesting, those fine, sharp needle-like or sand-like fragments which tend to spray from the inside of a hardened sheet of glass given sufficient impact.
