Yeah, a Compressed NG tank is even sturdier then the ones that are used for other compressed gas applications. And those suckers are heavy even when empty.

3,000-4,000 psi is required. And the tank(s) need to be sheltered from impact. Very do-able, already in use in lots of places (see Wikipedia for a fun article) but the penalty is weight and vehicle range.

Adding fuel to a pressurized tank is not a job for untrained folks, either.
