The argument being made is “legacy students are the same as white AA” and that’s not the case. If you disallow a university to consider whether a family has previously supported the school out of a mistaken sense of fairness, you’re punishing both the student and the university.

There are a lot of issues the university can take into consideration that don’t include race or sex. If you want a well-rounded student body tie applications to income and zip code.
