The Republicans have a bunch of nuts vying for the presidency this time around but no one can tell me with a straight face that the Democrats never had their own version of insanity.

Except that the Dems had a come-to-Jesus moment after watching Mondale get humiliated by Reagan in 1984. They marginalized their kooks and the far left moonbats from positions of real power and moved to the center as a party. Yeah, there are kooks like Sharpton and Gravel, but how much sway do they REALLY have with the party leadership?

The GOP, on the other hand, elevates their insane kooks to positions of real influence. That’s a problem, and until the GOP suffers a similar national humiliation with a True Believer as the nominee, things aren’t going to change.
