I always remember an exchange a friend of mine wrote about. She’d been to a feminist conference in Israel, where the organizers had been very enthused about some Palestinian speakers, and done a certain amount of shame-shame at the Jewish women in the audience.

In a cab, on the way back to their hotel, another attendee turned to my friend and said “I get sick of hearing about the houses Palestinians lost. They talk about it, and everyone claps. We will never get my grandfather’s house in Morocco back, and no one cares.”
