Well, maybe. That hadn’t occurred to me. But if stitching were the goal, then this isn’t just common-or-garden variety incompetence. It’s breathtaking incompetence of a magnitude that’s difficult to credit. I can more easily believe that the intent was to deceive.

That might not be the case if this were any campaign other than Romney’s. But they pretty much forfeited any benefit of the doubt when they produced that ad implying that an Obama quote of McCain was actually Obama speaking in his own voice, were caught doing it, and replied “so what?”
