The idea of eliminating or capping deductions far predates Romney.

Indeed, I find this whole movement to rehabilitate Mitt Romney, which has popped up in a handful of stories the past week, kind of off-putting.

It’s really weird. Even in that article it says that Obama proposed a cap earlier that Romney, and yet somehow it’s “An idea from Romney”. It’s an idea that Romney has endorsed. So was a national version of Romneycare, once upon a time. So were a lot of things.
