It’s hilarious how I’ve got wingnuts to the right of me who want to obsess over Mandela’s violent past and failure to denounce such later in life, and to the left of me I’ve got one who want to co-opt the man or at least the end of apartheid as accomplishments of the GOP/conservatism.

When those assholes renounce violence as a way to ‘Take Back America’, and when they shun the extremists who talk about it, THEN I might give a flying crap what they think about Mandela’s failure to renounce violence.

I mean, cripes, they talk about violent revolution because they don’t like the results of an election in which everyone gets to vote. And Mandela should have renounced violence against a white supremacist minority regime?
