Actually, I think Nancy Pelosi should offer him the following (non-publicly at first): If Boehner passes a 3-6 month debt ceiling extension then she and Steny Hoyer agree to get Democrats to vote for Boehner as speaker for the duration of the extension. That would at least take the immediate pressure off. It would still enrage the worst of the wingnuts, but a confrontation between them and the rest of Congress is inevitable. Best to just get it over with.

Let Boehner solve his own problems. If he can’t bring the Tea Party economic terrorists in line, then he can cut the “Hastert rule” that even Hastert calls bullshit and he can bring a vote to the floor.
