Cyclists need to respect pedestrians, and vice-versa. They need to learn how to share a path.

I was hit from behind by a cyclist once, on campus.

Fortunately my worst injury was a few scrapes, but I will definitely say that as someone who both walked and drove on that campus, the cyclists there had no concern for anyone else and no respect for traffic laws. I pretty much expected them to violate every traffic law and drove accordingly. It saved at least 2 accidents.
