To Selectively Protect And Serve

In February, President Barack Obama came to Milwaukee to celebrate the news that Master Lock was bringing jobs back from overseas to its plant here. To our great shame, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke chose to through a temper tantrum and willfully failed to provide the security he should have, claiming he couldn’t because of budget cuts.

On April 25, when Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele was sworn in for his first full term in office, Clarke refused to provide even an honor guard for the occasion.

However, on this past Sunday, when Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan, came to Wisconsin for a campaign rally, not only did Clarke provide a security detail, but sent them into Waukesha County for the entire duration of the political event.
