re: #390 wrenchwench

The first time I saw a transgendered woman interviewed (many years ago), she spoke about the pleasures of makeup, dresses, purses, stuff that means nothing to me, and I’m a woman, and I kind of resented that what she enjoyed about womanhood meant nothing to me, and thought my opinion should count for more having been born female in the right body.

I got over it. I’m not the arbiter of womanhood.

TS, TG, and CD all get mixed up. Many young children describe what you saw in that interview. If we are to allow someone to self identify as Manning has done with an announcement and respect that shouldn’t we also respect said interviewee? One would also then have to ask Manning what it means to be a woman? Clearly he liked the wig and make-up as well.
