So, from my reading of the polling, the exit polling etc., the reason Trump won was that undecideds who hated both Clinton and Trump largely went to Trump. I think most of them were either disengaged from politics, or, like many on the GOP side, saw how Trump was acting and assumed that he’d calm down.

Clearly, those people made a bad bet.

What I don’t know, but suspect from current polling, is that most of those people are not favorably impressed with what they got. As time goes on, and Trump keeps acting like this, I believe that that disappointment will harden into dislike and disapproval.

Meanwhile, the ranting, raving, incoherent, bullshit-spewing guy so clearly out of his depth is - for reasons I do not understand - EXACTLY what ~33-39% of America wanted. THAT’S why they look at this frighteningly incompetent performance and think, “Yeah, that’s what a President SHOULD be!!”

And that’s who Trump cares about. Note his answer to the question about angry constituents at the Congressional Town Halls - “They are not the Republican people that our representatives represent.” He believes the only people you represent as an elected official are the ones who voted for you. I suspect he may have given up on the remaining 60% of America, and that’s what this presser and tomorrow’s rally are about. He’s found it too difficult to be President of the United States, so he’s going to be President of the Red States, and only the ones in those states who voted for him. So he’s going back to ‘his people’ for the adulation that most Americans won’t give him.

I do not see this working out to give him a second term, or even a good midterm election.
