Happens all the time.

It doesn’t just “happen”. It’s a decision, and a bad one in most cases. And if it counted for something, what of the wronged partner? Not only does the cheater end up worse off than if he/she had made the other decision, but the cheatee is hurt. Trust is broken. Financial security is often out the window. The lives of children, if there are any, are upended.

Pain all around. Foreseeable pain. Inevitable, almost. What are brains good for, if not to steer clear of such coasts?
