I need to clarify this: I don’t want to go back to the days of racist policing, but when most of the criminals look greatly different from me it has a strong “otherizing effect”. I know to work against that effect, but it’s Teh Hard.
Having grown-up in Detroit in the ‘70, I do understand the “other” side of racism. Somehow it is always justified.
I think that is why I have such a hard time with labels. I have to look at each person as an indivudual with a soul and can’t let the bigotry I grew-up with carry into my adulthood.
