I finally read “War of the Worlds” back in the late ’90s. The whole time reading it I was thinking “Man, this is 100 times more bleak, dismal, morbid, and dark than the film”.

If a producer would make a film that stuck to the spirit of the book, and in the same time period, I think it would be a hit. Or maybe it would just be a hit with me. Who knows?
